Quejas Comunes:

We didn't buy, thank God! Frankly, it sounded incredible. And we are the most skeptical people on earth, never before even so much as considered a sales pitch buy of a timeshare. Oh, don't get me wrong, we own timeshares, but we've sought them out ourselves, found sellers and purchased for the price we wanted to spend, never the other way around, which is why this experience and our ever so sweet American salesperson Jody was so surprisingly cunning. At $23,000 it seemed like an incredible deal so when my husband said, let's see if they can do something about the price, I was like, are you nuts? 3 2 bedroom gorgeous units for 100 years??? I'm comparing this to my properties in Aruba, which would have been worth at least $100,000 and it seemed like a no brainer. Only one thing held me back - the cancellation policy. You see, their timeshare exchange program that I happen to be unfamiliar with - San Franciso exchange took 2 weeks to be activated ^(I bet no one thought to ask that question, but being that I just recently joined RCI with one of my Aruba units and had to wait for it to be activated, I knew there was a lag), which meant that I couldn't check out the program before the expiration of the cancellation policy so if I didn't like it - I was screwed!
Well, guess what? I came back to the room and couldn't wait to log on with my lap top to this SFX and it so happened that at the time that I was joining RCI with that one Aruba timeshare b/c I was trying to book this trip to Mexico, I had also came across SFX and joined their free trial for ONE wHOLE FREE YEAR OF the DIAMOND membership. YUP!!!! that'S CORRECT. The same diamond membership that they claim only they have, nope. My Aruba timeshares have them even though they made it sound like my timeshares were much below value to their pieces of crap in the Yucatan. Really? Did you see how many people were in that resort? 4? It's Thanksgiving week, Cancun is overbooked. There are no rooms anywhere and this place is echoing. Its totally empty. There's not a soul in sight. I don't believe there's much demand there. Beside the point, to be in a resort like that without an all inclusive is the most ridiculous thing in the unverse, but that's another issue. Continuing.... So, turns out, my membership had already been activated and active and I was already able to use it and check it out. Woo Hoo!!!! Well, well... more disappointment or not, since we didn't book. Almost none of the things they said were true. None of the good resorts were listed. The prices they showed us weren't listed here and 2 bedroom units were a very rare commodity. Granted, I called and they were closed because it is the night before Thanksgiving so they won't reopen until Monday but as of right now, it is undeniably a huge scam. If you booked within the 5 days, call your credit card company now and do a chargeback immediately. Cancel the transaction, cancel the contract. If you charged it on your credit card, you can still probably do a charge back even if its after the 5 days. Do whatever you have to do to get out of this deal because it is not something that will pan out. Beside the point - as we moved down the line and went from Jody to Lev, our Russian friend who they brought to butter us up with a little taste of homeland thinking only a Russian would make us bend over... who cut the price down to $13,000 and then to a tall skinny curly haired dude whom I explicitly remeber meeting last time I did one of these 20 years ago and who brought the price down to $8,000 and then a big fat round Mexican guy who took it all the way down to $3,000. Here's the problem, no, they took nothing out of the "deal". Even included that week of supposed new amusement part that i can guarantee will never happen. As a matter of fact, I would be shocked if any of the other resorts on the other side of Mexico are anything like the resort in Riviera Maya. Even though I really wasn't that impressed by this one either, I'm guessing the others are probably no where in the vicinity. I feel especially passionate about this only because I've seriously been to a few of these and every time, we have our head on the right way, our phones set to 90 minutes and our minds on the prize and getting back to our destination. But, somehow, this time, we got so close to being swindled and scammed that I feel personally slighted somewhat. Like how could i not seen through this right away. How did I not ask to access SFX on line. Why wouldn't that be a legitimate question? Frankly I don't understand why people don't do that? I apologize for such a long vent especially since i don't actually need help myself. What I do need help in is how to let people know this. As we were leaving and waiting for the taxi, a couple with 2 young girls came out and got into the same taxi and they were holding a package. I looked at them and I wanted to cry. They were so sweet and they bought. The last thing I would want is to make them feel stupid but even less do I want them to lose their hard earned money from those babies college funds or whatever else they may need to give to these scam artists. So, I told them whatever I could and gave them websites to check it out. I hope they find it in time and get out. But once people make those decisions, its called the puppy dog close, they're emotionally attached, its hard to get them to separate. They convince themselves that its the right one. How do I reach these people and let them know that its a scam? At the very, very least, if they really are that convinced and want to buy at least know to wait to the very end and do it for $8 instead of more. Oh and don't give up your timeshares. I guess theses people must have made these mistakes in the past? They wanted to take our timeshares assuming we didn't want them. My husband said we wouldn't sell our timeshares for double what we paid. We love them and we use them all the time, we wouldn't have bought them otherwise. They wanted us to give them away... Can you imagine? Grand Mayan Resort Vidanta

Grand Mayan is a scam. We attended a presentation there. They were going to buy our timeshare out and we were going to make money and also be able to stay at the Grand Mayan. We paid them 4500.00 and our relatives paid them 4500.00. When we were to return to the States we were supposed to send a wire for an additional 2500.00. When we got home we were checking them out and realized we had been scammed! We did not wire the rest of the money and sent a cancellation notice, and we were guaranteed when we signed up to get all our monies back. We have not and we tried to fight the credit card company to no avail. They are losers, scammers, thieves, worthless, idiots. DO NOT BUY INTO WHAT THEY PROMISE YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR MONEY AGAIN
