A year ago I went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico and I stayed at Mayan Palace. I went to their ’40 minutes timeshare presentation’ that became a five hour high pressure sale strategy. Unfortunately, I felt for it and I paid them the amount of 13000 in total before Mexican Timeshare Solutions helped me to cancel my contract with this resort. Please, DO NOT attend to any of these presentations, they are all scams.

I don’t know how they get by with this we stayed in Acapulco in March 2020 and the customer service and sales people lie and lie and lie. Worse vacation ever! We bought and visited all of them over 10 year ago and have been sorry ever since. They badger you even when you are members they promise the moon and deliver nothing. Just want more money and get nothing but a spoiled vacation.
    Don’t fall for this..... run.

We visited Puerto Vallarta in December 2019 as soon as we landed in the airport we cleared customs and we were about to rent a taxi. The timeshare sales people lied to us stating our resort has a complimentary pick up and drop off to the airport. We believed and went to his desk and he introduced us to some other person who offered a free cruise, downtown day trip if we are willing to listen to a small presentation with free buffett breakfast. We agreed as we were getting lot of free stuff which we did not expect and he gave us a complimentary Tequila bottle as well. We went to the time share presentation to Vidanta and then we were treated respectfully till we declined to buy their time share. They told us they will give a free gift certificate and they took us to some other building. There were scammers, cheaters and jackals waiting there to rob us and we did not even realize. We were waiting to get our gift certificates and drop back to the hotel and we were again tempted with some other option of 2 year time share offer with free cruise tickets and 2 free flight tickets anywhere in the world. They did not inform us that we have to pay a user fee when we book this package all they said was as long as you continue to pay the yearly maintenance fee we can use 1 free week in Mexico staying at any of their 7 resorts in 7 places or 2 weeks international anywhere. We did not realize that we had to pay more for staying on top of this membership. We did not receive any membership info till 45 days after constant follow-ups the finance department personnel sent the registration information which had a link to book the vacation. Until we logged on to the website we did not know that there was going to be around $800 USD user fee we need to pay to stay in their resorts. So basically they robbed us of $3000 USD by saying 1-week free stay in those 7 resorts of theirs in Mexico. I asked for my money to be refunded and they say I can cancel my membership but they will not return my money. I am now stuck between rock and a hard place. The 2 free flight tickets is also a scam there is a registration fee I need to pay and it is only for Canada or US citizens and we are not citizens of either country. I am totally disappointed and runnign from pillar to post to get my moeny back. Moral of the story don't listen to anyone in the Puerto Vallarata airport and straight go to the approved Taxi counter in the airport and go straight to your hotel. Sorry for the long story but I wanted you all to be aware of how everything gets unfolded. They tempt you with free stuff and lock you in this expensive time share. I am glad I did not go for owning the place which was around $130,000 USD. Otherwise, I would have been bankrupt by now.

My husband and I went to Vidanta Riviera Maya in October 2019 and had the worst experience EVER! We were told they were getting away from timeshares and now offering fraction properties -- yes, deeded and tangible investment properties. Big, fat lie. However, they have a website and even a LinkedIn page advertising this. I wasn't interested at first, but they were very, very aggressive and brought the price down and threw in a bunch of extra weeks and perks. When I got back to the states I found out it wasn't true by their own customer service department, who blamed it on ME for falling for it -- what?!

The sales process was aggressive, as I said. They lured us in the first day with an "issue" regarding the reservation, after I turned them down for a free breakfast. They tracked us down at a restaurant and drug us to the sales office. We were there from 10:00 a.m. until after dark without food -- but they did ply us with margaritas (which is against Mexican law). Moreover, I needed medication in my room, which I wasn't allowed to go get, and my husband is hypoglycemic and needs food, which he was denied. Both of those things DRASTICALLY affected our decision-making, not to mention the fact we were exhausted. When I started to wane, they separated me from my husband, telling me to "just sign" and they'd "bring my husband back" to me. What, had they kidnapped him? It was very, very creepy. They illegally charged my credit card without my knowledge or authority. It was a mess.

Worst "vacation" EVER!!!!!!!!!! And most expensive.

  • Nomad Noviembre 15, 2019, 11:38 pm

We thought we were getting a nice vacation there, and it really is a beautiful property. That said, staff stole our credit card information while we were there, ringing up over $500 in tour tickets!
And the worst part, DON'T EVER ATTEND ANY OF THEIR SALES PITCH BREAKFASTS!!! YOU WILL BE ROBBED!!
I am in a very similar situation as many others, just paid $3900 for a supposedly lifetime membership at over 50,000 hotels/resorts around the world for $99-299/week. Once I was finally allowed access to the website, I see what a total scam this is as there are a grand total of 2 countries in the world I can visit currently, and only 7 locations! I called them, and they said their website is being updated, so everything isn't available to view right now, and to e-mail them with where I wanted to go. I recorded the conversation. There is still no reply, almost 2 weeks later. I am thinking a class action suit needs to happen against these thieves! They won't even let anyone view the website while there with them. I admit my ignorance in not doing a google search at that time, as there are so so many other people in this situation, but that is still no excuse for robbing people. Would there be any interest in anyone joining a lawsuit against Vidanta Private Reserve Travel Collection?
