Quejas Comunes:

We purchased a time share in Mayan Palace two years ago with the understanding that we could rent them out and make money. We were contacted by Sierra Resorts to sell the timeshare . We sent closing costs of $2,000. We filled out a deposit form and was supposed to receive the transfer of funds lat month. Now when you call Sierra, the lines are busy and their e-mails are returned. We feel totally robbed.

I purchased a time share at Grand Mayan in Los Cabos. I tried to call and cancel and they will not give it to me in writing via email, although I have spoken with several individuals. They were very nice to 'mail me' my contract rather than give it to me, only now do I realize that the cancellation paperwork is contained within this contract. How much to see this finished for me before the 5 day cancel timeline ? This has been a very difficult situation. I have given them $20,000 and received no goods or services from their facility.

We purchased a Mayan Palace membership that we tried to get out of it the next day after reviewing our welcome package. They said we could not because we signed the clause regarding not being able to cancel up to 5 days after purchase. Now we have returned home and have found all of the complaints online about how the company has defrauded its members.

We purchased a timeshare at Mayan Palace in January. The only reason we purchased this was that they guarantied to buy out existing timeshare with Wyndham. I have 2 signed contracts from Sierra for 2 time share contracts that the salesman gave us to buy our existing time shares. He said they would contact us in a few weeks. We have not heard from them and when we tried calling them and emailing them and they have not responded. Our salesman will not email or call us back.

We were scammed by a salesman at Mayan Palace. We cancelled within the 5 day period and he is not refunding the money. We have a signed document from him stating that the $2500.00 would be refunded. He doesn't respond to emails. We are planning to go back again and speak to him face to face again. Any suggestions would be appreciated very much.

My husband and I purchased a timeshare at the Riviera Mayan Palace in March. We have already paid about $5000 and now don't want it anymore. We feel very scammed. We owe $8000. Can we get out of it?

  • Elizabeth Abril 11, 2012, 4:43 pm

My husband and I purchased a vacation plan from Mayan Palace in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. We are just now figuring out that everything we were told during our 8 hr ordeal were all lies. We were told that Mayan would buy our current timeshare for a guaranteed minimum price and would buy back our 2 Mayan weeks each year for a guaranteed amount but we had to sign up with one of their affiliated brokers to complete the process. We were told we would never have maintentance fees unless we didn't allow Mayan to buy back our weeks and we opted to use the weeks ourselves - that seems to be another lie. There are more fraudulent claims that were made to us in order to get us to seal the deal and we are very distraught to learn that we have been swindled out of $25000 USD.

  • Armand Abril 11, 2012, 4:43 pm

We have just returned from our vacation in Mexico and we are canceling our contract with  Mayan Palace. Upon review of our paperwork, we realized that copies of important papers had mysteriously been left out of the notebook that we were given. We also researched the Mayan Palace, their rental rates and sales practices on the internet at the resort. We spoke with our sales representative and asked him for the missing paperwork. He told us that he did not have the papers as they were already sent to Texas but in the same statement he said that we would be dealing with a company in Florida who would be buying our timeshares from us. This same company, Luxury Resort Management insisted on charging our credit card account for $500 in order to process the listing of our two timeshares.

  • Garry Abril 11, 2012, 4:43 pm

They told us we could have a 2 bedroom and the Grand Mayan and all that but what it ended up was that we could maybe get a studio in the Grand Mayan . And after we read the fine print it said that we could only use the week once at Mayan Palaces every 5 years, just like RCI. It was completely not what the timeshare salesman told us.
