We have been Mayan Palace owners for 11 years. We spent two weeks at the Mayan Palace in mid-December, 2011. This was the worst experience ever. There was a problem with the reservation at check in. The Mayan Palace manager alleged it was my fault. They finally accepted responsibility after I showed them the e-mail which indicated that I had confirmed reservations. It got even worse at check out. I went and got a statement six hours before check out and agreed to what had been presented to me. Unfortunately upon checkout, the invoice had been reworked to show a significant sum due. Although I did not agree with the invoice, I paid it as we were only a couple hours away from our flight departure. I consider the Mayan Palace to be one of the most deceptive hotels that I have ever visited.
If you purchased your time share with a credit card and it hasn't been 90 days you need to contact your credit card company and file a dispute stateing product received is not as stated. That way you can get your money back. If you traded your timeshare to them and you want to cancel your current mayan company timeshares, I would call your current timeshare company and tell them not to release it as it was a scam. That way your protected in your previously owned timeshare. We called to cancel as well, and they said we could return our timeshare but they wouldnt give us the money we had already paid out. we were promised 50 free weeks with holiday sales, yet when we called there are huge fees to stay at their ressorts, so there is nothing free about it. sent my son there for there honeymoon, which is when we learned of all the deceptions...too late to cancel from the credit card company...if you purchased at the mayan, puerto vallarta, you are not allowed to use the whole resort only part of it. Your contract if you read the small print states that you have purchased a room. period. not rights to the pools and amenities. For the person that is waiting for a deed. the mayan doesn't give deeds like american timeshares do. You have purchased access to a room, for a specific time 10 years 25 years whatever. That is not a deed.
My sister and I were also scammed into purchasing at Mayan Palace. we tried to tell them we weren't interested but they wouldnt let us leave they kept moving us to different people . We didn't get what we were promised . Is anyone planning a class action suit? We would be intereted in joining.
I spent $22,000 with Mayan Palace in March 2011. I realized all the promises were on scrap paper, and the cost comparisons they offered were lies, as were the locations through HSI. I sent info to Global Marketing Connections to at least rent out my units, but have never received documentation or monies from this company. I just want out and recoup my loss as much as possible through a sale or return.
our experience with Mayan Palace is a continuum of every one elses our units. We purchased a 1 bedroom at PV with the SOLE intention of renting, We piad our one time rental fee to one of the recommended companies, never to be heard from again. We actually decided to USE our time share at puerta Penasco (love) and Mayan Riviera (too Quiet), sooooooooooo in 2011 we decided to sell. Have received multiple offers over the phone and chose what we THOUGHT was a reputible US company Platinum Reality Exchange, that made us an offer too good to be true. When the account was turned over to the title company American Title Escrow Services another US company things went south really quickly. We had to wire 3600 to mexico for the transfer fees. Three days laterv we had to wire 2918 to mexico for tthe sales commision (this was to be paid at the time of closing which was SCHEDULE for Jan 26,2012. The title co rep Tony Puccio never called. When I reached him hours later he acknowledges receipt of the monies and said he wanted to close the very next day. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Contacted the reality co who told me all this was related to the new Mexican law that required all moneies be in escrow in mexico.. BY now I contacted FBI, FTC and the Attorney General's office, as well as my own lawyer. Everyone says the is the new policy of the Mexican govt. The very next day either 2/1 or 2///2/12 I get ANOTHER request fo wiree $7,700 to Mexico for the taxes that are NOT my responsibility, but not to worry since I will be paidd back, and all this money is just sitting in an escrow account, just waiting to be paid back, after I send even MORE money. This can not be legal. It had to be the WORSE transaction EVER. I likely have already lost $6,600. Do I really want to send an additional $7.700???????????????
I do not think even my lawyer appreciated the magnitude of all the monies sent, ripped off, stoled etc. I have to decide what the do next. I should likely just privately rent what we can not use, or eventualy just walk away
We bought a timeshare in Grand Mayan in 2009, we were told that we would be able to rent all the weeks outs and make some money on it, this has not been ther case. We had hope to use the weeks ourserlves after being stung by these cowboys, however, we are unable to due to a change in our family situation. We need to get rid of this timeshare ASAP as we are no longer able to pay the maintenance fees nor use the timeshare. We have called the resort and they have not been able to help, but forwarded us to a company that could sell our timeshare for an up front fee. I told them no way as we do not have the money to pay for this.
Hi everyone I fell into the same trap as most of you have. The more research i made the more frustrating it becomes. Here is my thought, if all of us talk to our families, friends, coworkers etc, etc and tell them to stay away from Mayan Palace resorts and never never never go trough a presentation even if they give you all the free stuff they offer. Once again on the members writing here, which explains the fact that we don't have the ability to sue or anything like that. So the next course of action is to pass the word and please, please don't be shy to tell everyone that at the time of signing the contract (scam) just tell you had a brain fart attack, and tell them that it only happens to people that accept the free breakfast (they will thank you for it). We will never win the war but we can surely fight the battle collectively, we can at least save other souls out there which in my opinion it will give me some satisfaction. I'm involved in a club with 5000 members, i also belong to a workers union of about 22000 members that would find this website extremely informative and would find this post comical but most important it will serve as a warning to them not to go to any of the Mayan Grupo properties. Please do the same and will see what happens. A fact that people need to know, timeshare salesman's write positive post on Grupo Mayan properties in this website, please ignored them as they have to find ways to tell people more lies. My next project will be on YouTube will keep you posted so we can get more than a million hits.
I just read this as my parents were going to sign. They promised us the deal that we would receive 1000 dollars for each of the three weeks we'd own in order to pay off the 10000 payment. At first they used a regular salesperson who offered as a sum of money for it, we walked away after 4 hours and then were rudely remarked: "We don't want to do business with people like you". When they were the snakes that had promised us we would use our money to pay off the down payment when they switched the deal and made us use the money to pay off the whole price as well as tell us we would get 1700 for the weeks when it was really 1000 including payed maintenance. They then had us take a survey with the "nicer" people who were getting rid of that sales company in a few months. After reading this, I realized we were being scammed yet again. It is no guarantee they can rent your weeks and make money for you. Not to mention they said they'd take our weeks from RCI and pay those maintenance fees off. I'm not sure that's true, but it seems like it's not. We will support your cause and tell everyone. Thank you so much.
Bought a timeshare and tried to cancell, but the sales people all kept telling me that my sales person would contact me, when I did meet with him, the 5 day was over and I was left in the cold. We are now back in Canada and I have just sent email to the sales person, to say I needed to cancell the timeshare, in the midst of things, my wife suffured a concousion and was sent to the hospital and time ran out. I am out of alot of money and my wife just so happen to found out that she lost her job. I have no money to pay, I need to get my money back and above all my wife is still suffering from headaches from her injury at hotel.
