Quejas Comunes:

Add one more sucker into the mix. We too got hooked into signing with the Reef and they had a buyer for our existing timeshare and so virtually it would cost us nothing to sign up. Almost a straight across trade and then there was the $2,000 a week rental that would be coming in (8 weeks). Sounded too good to be true and you know the saying! Also advised that we were buying an "existing contract" and therefore we did not have the 5 day cancellation clause and signed a waiver to that effect. Of course we didn't get a copy of this with our contract as it is an illegal document and they don't want us to have it to use against them. The 5 day cancellation clause is IRREVOCABLE and so the waiver is fraudulent misrepresentation. Too bad we didn't check them out BEFORE we signed the contract. The next day we wrote a letter rescinding the contract with them and RMS and had DHL deliver it. Upon returning home to Canada 2 days later, we followed up with a registerel letter doing the same thing. We contacted our credit card co. and cancelled our card so no further payments could be taken and we waited the 2 weeks we were advised by the credit card co. and then sent them letters and copies of our documentation of what had transpired and it's in their hands at the moment. They said it can take up to 8 weeks and whether we will see our deposit back is yet to be seen. I'm hoping, but these guys are very slick scammers and will pull out all the stops to talk their way out of refunding the deposit and cancelling the contract. That sales dept. is a den of vipers and I wish we had listened to our gut instinct and RAN!!!
Plus, we were there for about 6 hours and I've read that anything over a 90 min. presentation is considered coercion.

My mother bought a timeshare last January and has fallen into the same unfortunate circumstances. It is all a big scam!! There is a company called RMS ( Resort Marketing Solutions) was to pay her for her Geo Property 120 days after signing with the Reef and we have seen nothing yet. The Reef has not answered emails nor have they called us back. It has been over a year now and now going the legal route with them. RMS will not email you and prefers to talk to on the phone as to avoid a paper trail with any incriminating information that can be used against them. They also said they are not obliged to give her money for her property until the sell it. He also said there is no guarantee that they will rent out the weeks of your new time share so our promise in the contract 3000.00 a year is a lie. Our contact at the Reef has disappeared and I am now looking at my contacts in Mexico to assist me somehow. These companies hate bad press but this is what we all must do. I believe there is an organization that handles things like these and when I get the details I will post it on this site. My mother has dealt with Timeshares for over 10 years and nothing like this has ever happened to her.

We were lured to this resort for a viewing. We had a quick lunch with one of their employees and then shuffled over to the timeshare bungalow where we were passed on to another salesperson. The alcohol started to flow and the salespeople started to talk and talk and talk. If our salesperson couldn't answer a question, they would send someone else over. After two hours, they sent over an American, Gerry from Georgia, who tried to tell us what a wonderful deal it was. They had us sign paperwork but wouldn't give us copies of what we signed; we were told they had to mail them. They also refused to give us a phone number and told us that we would need to contact them by email. Well, guess what. What they promised us, wasn't what we got and we are out over 5K and have nothing and we are still getting phone calls from them asking for more. STAY FAR AWAY! These people are crooks!

I just bought into the Reef's timeshare program last week. after reading all the negative reports, I am thinking of defaulting on paying the balance and taking my loss for the down payment. There must be some people that have good experience with this and I would like to hear from them.

I am a reef DIAMOND owner with RMS and my program has been working smoothly thus far. Have been back twice since purchase, even received a free all inclusive for my wife and I because we sent friends to purchase. We received $7965.00 for two weeks in July of 2012(35 bucks taken for some fee)
But this didn't just come to us however, we did have to contact rms and pay 599 in advance to start the process. (That wasn't explained) but overall very pleased. Sorry to hear people upset, maybe try actually contacting the companies to have the program work better?

I just seen this site and was shocked. I am proud to be a reef owner, I love the little quaint place that I own. It's sad to see persons talking so bad about a nice spot. I am an owner and am 100% satisfied and have received all promises I was made. I'm assuming most re confused, the program doesn't just magically happen, you must contact rms and the company to put arrangements in order, I believe most just expect money to come in without any work what's however. Don't be lazy, contact them.

I have been reading these comments and am very confused. I purchased August of 2012. I also had an offer on my mayan palace which I agreed to sell. The salesperson also gave me a four week program of which two weeks could be marketed and I did receive these monies.... Although I only received 3964.00 and I had to pay a transfer fee on my mayan palace which was 500$ I was going to complain about the 36$ and the 500$ but now I feel pleased with my program.

I brought my time share Sept of 2011. To this date I can not book a week to use it. The phone numbers do not work. I never received any instructions on how to even book a vacation. I have never received a so called Key Code. I truly believe this is a scam also,

  • Michael Enero 3, 2013, 9:33 am

Looks like a total scam. The Elite Guest Circle won't even answer the phone and log ins no longer work. Not very happy with thsi company or The Reef for the scam set up !!!

  • Sam Diciembre 27, 2012, 2:16 pm

Also scammed! We bought a Reef timeshare February 2012 due to the salesman's assurance that any unused weeks would be rented out for 2000/week. Now we realize that it did sound too good to be true, and of course, there hasn't been any money forthcoming. Is there any recourse?
