BEWARE BEWARE of the Puerto Bahia Timeshare "salespeople". We got scammed for over $50,000 in June 2013. The salesman "Leif" who supposedly is a retired state police office from the United States promises you the world until you sign and then it's all over! Untruth #1 He said they will be able to GUARANTEE to buy your existing timeshare for full retail value and you will get this amount back to defray the cost of the fractional ownership in Puerto Bahia.
Untruth #2 He said he will rent out your units if you do not want to stay in the units and they will pay you $3720 per week yet I found that they are renting it for $1350-$1850 per week so there is NO WAY they would be paying us $3720.
Untruth #3 They say that there is a separate company to rent your unit with NO Commission so Do NO mention this to George Triggs because he will want commission(Then you end up signing a form stating you are NOT DEPENDENT on the sale of your previous timeshare or the Rental income for the purchase.
Untruth #4 They say since this is a deeded property you have to give up your 5 day right to cancel under Mexican Law. This is untrue! You DO have a 5 day right to cancel and better do it immediately before you get stuck like my wife and I did.
Bottom line is we got stuck for over $50,000 and you will too if you sign anything!! This is fair warning to everyone else!!!

we bought in Feb 2013, with all the same promises, the next day I did an internet search on them and found out the truth.
We canceled within the 5 days, which they said we couldn't, I contacted Visa, and sent them all the details and they refunded the whole amount $14,000.00 pending a rebuttal from Puerto Bahia, which never came.
Also contacted a Mexican lawyer who handled the case through Profeco, and secured the refund order which we sent to Visa.
My advise, cancel with in 5 days and have proof you did. Document everything, contact your credit card company right away. We won our case but sounds like we were lucky to do so.

Beware. The sales people will tell you anything, ie, lies, misrepresentations, half-truths to get you to sign. When you sign the contract, none of what they've promised is in the contract: renting your weeks for a big returns; selling your time shares, and anything else to hook you. The company is only liable for what the contract stays, not what you were told!! The sales mantra is, "Tell them anything to get the sale, let them deal with the consequences!" Once you sign, you're done! The only way out is to get an attorney to sue to dismiss the contract through the promissory note. This takes about six months.
Better yet, never go to a presentation. Even better, take a recorder and record everything you've been told. When you go to signing, play the recorder to see if what you were told is in the contract, if not...don't sign.

    Been there, done that!

I am really worried now i just recently bought my timeshare at puerto bahia and i didn´t know much about all this scams and awful situations the sales representatives told me it was a great deal and in the paper it was but now looking at this i´m a little scared and i don't want to loose my money.

In January of this year, we went on a 8 hour timeshare presentation at Puerto Bahia which unfortunately we fell forll for. We had a previous problem with a timeshare property in Puerto Vallarta and were very interested in getting rid of it.We were to use the value of this timeshare to reduce the cost of the unit at Puerto Bahia.

HAH! After six months of trying to confirm our agreement, we just found out today that our $9,000. output was for the purchase of one week per year for two years, instead of one week a year for lifetime and that they had no intention of purchasing our previous timeshare unit.
They are very good at what they do however please, please, do not be fooled. This is all a scam.
No matter what they promise, it is all lies.

I got suckered in, rescinded within 5 business days according to Mexican law, including delivering a Profeco letter. Told the guy he hadn't heard the last of me, that I would file a class action suit, shut them down, and get all my money back and then some. A week later, he emailed me that the board would approve the refund of all my money IF; 1 - I withdrew the Profeco Complaint and 2 - I signed a paper from their legal department that I would not take any further action.
The credit card company told me not to do anything until the dispute period was complete.
Obviously they are scared - what they are doing IS ILLEGAL. They MUST be stopped!
    What can we do?

  • miss MMay 17, 2013, 10:34 am

we we were told the ame thing...although when they bough our other timeshare, we subtracted it from the price although,, theysaid they would rent out our new time share every year for 5 years and that would pay what we paid.
as of yet, it has not bee n rented out so, this was a big scam...

I to was scammed by Puerto Bahia Villas and Spas in Mexico. They promised me things during the presentation that they did not deliver at the end of the presentation. They are nothing but a bunch of liers out to take peoples money for their own benefit. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I was scammed out of $17,795 USD. I tried to cancel with no result. I couldn't even get any satisfaction out of my credit card company. I feel credit card companies could play a big role in helping to stop this scamming. After all, who supports these credit companies - Not people living in Mexico. These people need to be stopped from scamming tourists that vacation in Mexico. If it weren,t for tourists, Mexico wouldn't even be on the map. They should be ashamed for what they are doing. Somehow we all need to form together to stop this. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and we need the grease (our money back from these scammers). Puerta Bahia has ruined my life and taken things from me that I will never get back, such as my family and my financial independence. Nobody has the right to do that to any human being. It appears that they tell different stories to different people just to convience people to make a sale. They told me they would buy my Myan Palace for $33,800. They knew that would never happen. I later got a phone call from some Property Management company in Missouri saying they had a buyer for my Myan Palace, but they wanted another $897 USD to complete the process - another scam. Bunch of dam rotten liers. They are the lowest thing to the ground and that is a snake. The bad thing about this thing is tha people do not know that this scamming is happening until the get caught up in it while in Mexico.. We need to get this information out to people before they vacationing in Mexico, not after the fact. We as honest law abiding CHRISTIANS have to do what we can to stop this right now. I don't know how to do that, but I hope someone out there does.
